Put your Questions to Liverpool City Region’s Metro Mayoral Candidates
On 6 May 2021, we'll vote to elect the Liverpool City Region’s next metro mayor.
Metro mayors make decisions that directly impact life in our neighbourhood, from housing and roads, to public transport and green space. And our elected mayor has huge power to bring about a clean, green and fair future – locally, in the Liverpool City Region and at a national level, too.
Ahead of the election, the Liverpool City Region Climate Action Network are hosting an online hustings with our prospective representatives at 7.00 pm on Thursday 1 April. You’re invited to join us remotely, find out where candidates stand on urgent issues in your local area and ask them questions of your own.
This is one of the most important chances you’ll get to put your questions to our metro mayoral candidates. As you complete the booking form you’ll have the chance to identify the issues you would most like to see covered and you’ll be able to pitch a question.

How can we address fuel poverty sustainably in St Helens?
Poor housing stock, together with low incomes and rising unemployment have left a bleak outlook for many people living in the UK. In these colder months, some of the most vulnerable people living in fuel poverty are struggling to keep their homes warm. Under the Green Homes Grant, the government has pledged £3 bn spending to implement energy efficiency measures. But, what does this mean on the ground in St Helens?
Join us for this event where we're bringing together representatives from key organisations and sectors across St Helens to unpack the issue of fuel poverty and explore the current barriers to action in addressing this issue. We will then delve into the potential solutions available to alleviate these barriers and create greener homes, that both alleviate fuel poverty and tackle the climate crisis.
We will be joined at the event by local MPs, Marie Rimmer and Conor McGinn.
